Cassandra "Smokey" Watson

Cassandra Watson was born on December 26, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ellouise and Lathan Watson. She attended Chicago public schools and was known for her vibrant personality and infectious spirit.

Affectionately called "Smokey" by her family, she was the life of every gathering she attended. Smokey had a unique way of expressing her love for others, and no matter how she pronounced their names, they became their own special nickname. Her joyful presence and love for life made everyone around her feel cherished and appreciated. Smokey was deeply devoted to her family and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. To know her was to love her.

Smokey was preceded in death by her beloved life partner, Gus Swift, her parents Ellouise and Lathan Watson, her brothers Dwayne and Anthony Watson, her sister Annette Richardson, and her children Lavell and Dominique. She joins her family members in eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love.

She is survived by her children Thomas, Calvin, Marcus, Michael, Laura, Serina, Randall, Bianca, Unika, Jessica, Lathan, Iesha, Nicholas, Nicole, Raheem, and Janiya, as well as 36 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Smokey also leaves her 6 sister and 3 brothers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones.

A special bond existed between Smokey and her sister/cousin/best friend, Joann "Jody Doe," who will forever hold her memory in her heart.

Smokey’s legacy of warmth, laughter, and love will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
