Daniel Paul McCarthy

Daniel Paul McCarthy, 56, passed away on May 13, 2026. He was born on October 10, 1969, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Charles and Mona (Andrews) McCarthy.

Daniel grew up in Carbondale and was a proud graduate of Carbondale Community High School, Class of 1987. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed fishing, going to see new movies, and spending time with the people he loved most. Daniel worked for G&R Property Management Company, where he was dedicated to handling maintenance for the company. He especially cherished time spent with his family and his close “ride or die” friend, Jeff Petermen.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his sister, Lydia Beth.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mona McCarthy; father, Charles (Terri) McCarthy; siblings, Dustin Brown, and Cassie (Drake) Piper; aunt, Leiveta Fred; nieces, Lilly Dilly, Zoey, Isabelle, Jesse and Jude Piper; cousins, Leslie “Bud” Fred and Kathy Flargraves; nephew, Malcolm (Lindsay) McCarthy; and great-nephew, Liam Ledbetter, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Ministry of comfort was loving entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
