On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Darin Davis took his final breath. His passing has left a deep ache in the hearts of all who loved him — aching for one more conversation, one more hug, one more moment of laughter. Though his physical presence is gone, his spirit lives on in the cherished memories that will sustain his family and friends in the days, weeks, and years to come. His love is forever etched in their hearts.
Darin was born on June 18, 1987, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Lizzie and Joseph Joiner. One of four children, Darin was a loving son, devoted father, and loyal brother. Through his transition, he is now reunited with his beloved grandparents Joseph and Yoner Joiner, Archie and Susie House; uncles Archie and Roy House; cousin Jeremy House; and many other dear loved ones who have gone before him.
He leaves behind his children, Darioaunna and Darin Jr. Davis, who were his greatest pride and joy. He is also survived by his parents, siblings, Susie Davis, Leon Davis, and Joseph Joiner Jr.; his nieces and nephews Kierah and Kano Stewart, Kyrah Crowley, Keionte and Keevion Bond, and Alayah and Danjou Davis. His memory is also held dearly by his uncles and aunts Marvin Jackson; Gwendolyn, Yolonda, and Anetta Joiner; Tommy Sr., Henry, Bertha, Carrie, and Mildred House; as well as numerous cousins, lifelong friends, and his beloved girlfriend, Heather Casanova.
Darin, affectionately known as "Stanka," was more than a title — more than just a son, brother, father, cousin, or friend. He was a light in the lives of those who knew him, an angel on earth whose presence filled any room with laughter, love, and warmth. His personality was larger than life, and his heart even bigger. He lived to bring people together, to uplift others, and to share his deep faith in God.
For those who knew him, Darin was unforgettable — a man full of joy, humor, generosity, and love. He gave without hesitation, once literally giving strangers the shirt off his back or the shoes off his feet. That was Darin: selfless, kind, and full of grace.
One of his proudest recent accomplishments was getting baptized — a spiritual milestone that brought him great peace and strength. He read his Bible faithfully and often reminded everyone, “God got me.” And now, with unwavering faith, we believe God has indeed welcomed him home.
Darin's greatest legacy is the love he gave and the family he adored. Among his many achievements in life, being a father was the one he treasured most. May his children always find comfort in knowing just how deeply they were loved.
Romans 14:8
"If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whethere we live or die, we belong to God."
