Daryl Levall Norwood, 38, of Carbondale, Illinois, traded time for eternity on the morning of Thursday, October 2, 2025.
He was born on February 3, 1987, in Chicago, Illinois, to Earl Johnson and Rayvaughn Norwood.
Daryl was the proud father of Daziyah and Daryl Jr., whom he loved dearly. He was the owner and operator of D&D Landscaping and Perfect Picks Kennel, where he earned a reputation for breeding some of the best puppies around. He was such a respectful, free-hearted, and intelligent person. He was never confrontational — always kind, and he truly cared about others.
He enjoyed riding bikes, playing basketball, and even skydiving. Known for his big heart, contagious smile, and adventurous spirit, Daryl was always the life of the party and brought joy wherever he went. He was also a devoted fan of the Chicago Bulls.
He is survived by his children, Daziyah Norwood and Daryl Levall Norwood, Jr.; their mother, Robin Brooks; father, Earl (Theresa) Johnson; mother, Rayvaughn Norwood; brothers, Raymond (Brittany) Norwood, Demetrius Flowers Jr., Regisiah Flowers, Malik (Nala) Lester, Earlest Johnson, and Donnell Johnson; sister, Makayla Lester; nieces, Laila Norwood, Demyla Flowers, Zamyra Flowers, Yazmine Flowers, and Nalani Lester; nephews, Demetrius “King” Flowers III, Yancy Flowers, and Malik Lester Jr. Maurice Everage; and grandmother, Jessie Maxine Norwood-Nicholson.
Other loving survivors include Marquita Norwood, Hydia Norwood, Diamond Norwood, Analah Thomas, Kathy, Anna, Jamell and the entire Perkins Family, Nicholas Webb, DaRell Everage, Kyle Mixon, Devin Brooks, Everik Brooks, Jerome Snowden Jr., Aquille Brooks, and Cassandra Brooks. He is also survived by his significant other, Tiera Reed, and godson, Jai’den Reed.
He was preceded in death by his two of his grandfathers, Steven Nicholson and Raymond Odum; uncle, Yancy Norwood; and stepfather, Michael Lester Jr; aunts, Carol Ham and Kimberly Johnson; uncle, Jason Ham.
Though his earthly journey has ended, Daryl’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him most. His laughter, kindness, and fearless spirit will forever remind us to live boldly, love deeply, and cherish every moment.
