David Phelps

David, a cherished soul born on October 27, 1955, completed his earthly journey on August 19, 2026. He was the beloved son of Lila Ellen Foulke and Irvin “Buddy” Phelps. David’s life was one of service, dedication and profound love for those around him.

David’s life was enriched by the deep bonds he shared with his family, He was predeceased by his loving spouses, Betty Roberts and Wanda Smith, with whom he shared many cherished years. David was also preceded in death by his parents, Lila Ellen and Irvin Phelps, and his siblings Butch, Kathy, Lori, and Danny.

He is survived by his devoted daughters, Hattie Reis and Mary Ellen Zimmer, who were the pride of his life. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren: Anela, Jaizyn, Zariahn, Mariah, and Zayden, along with four great-grandchildren. David is also survived by his siblings Bob, Linda, and Bucky who will dearly miss his presence.

David’s life was rich with diverse experiences and talents. After attending the College of Redwoods, he became a mechanic, a field in which he excelled and took great pride. His career path was varied, also serving as a correctional officer and caregiver, roles that reflected his dedication to helping and supporting others. His service in the Air Force for four years was a testament to his commitment to his country.

Beyond his professional life, Daivd had a zest for adventure and the great outdoors. He found joy in gold mining, camping, and working on cars. His heart was always open to lending a helping hand, often reaching out to both friends and strangers with generosity and kindness.

David’s personality was marked by his sharp wit and humor. He cherished long sarcastic, and humorous conversations, bringing laughter and joy to those around him. Guided by his Christian faith and values, he was a pillar of strength and love for his family and friends, His love extended to the animal kingdom, where his talent for training dogs was unparalleled.

A private funeral ceremony will be held in honor of David, allowing his family and close friends to celebrate his life in an intimate setting. In a special message David’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at SIH Memorial Hospital in the ICU Department for their compassionate care during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made in David’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the giving spirit that he embodied throughout life.

David’s remarkable journey leaves an indelible mark on all who knew him. His kindness, humor and unwavering love will be forever remembered and cherished.
