Derrick Lee Downey

Derrick Lee Downey, 41, of Chester, passed away at his home on February 27, 2026.

He was born on December 4, 1984, in Red Bud, Illinois, to the late Michael Downey and the late Deanna (Morefield) Downey. Derrick’s family meant everything to him, and he cherished the time he spent with those he loved.

He is survived by his partner, Brittany Depper of Chester; his children, Hunter of Millstadt, and Raelyn, Kaylee, Karsen, and Braedyn, all at home in Chester; his sister, Danelle (Chris) Long of New Athens; his brother, Michael Downey Jr.; and his grandmother, Janet Morefield of Waterloo. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will deeply miss him.

The preferred form of remembrance is memorial contributions to the family.

Ministry of Comfort was lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
