Edgar R. “Ed” Brantley, 70, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Manor Court of Carbondale.
He was born April 15, 1955, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to the late Clifford and Helen (Jarrett) Brantley.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering on small projects. He was employed with Super Wash for more than 24 years. On January 2, 1981, he married the love of his life, Debra Pigg, and together they were blessed with one daughter, Amber.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Brantley; daughter, Amber (Sassam) Golchin; sisters, Kathie Grob and Barbara (Dana) Troutman; brother, Tom Brantley; nephews, Scott (Brandy) Grob, Kip (Jami) Grob, and Tanner Troutman; nieces, Terra Troutman, Nadya Poncsofar (Randy Schmidt), and Natyra Poncsofar; brother-in-law, Ernie Poncsofar; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marsha Poncsofar and one brother-in-law, Elroy Grob.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
