Floyd Eugene Ditzler, 89, of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at 2:33 p.m., after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 4, 1935, in Pana, Illinois, to Ervie and Ruth (Nalley) Ditzler. Floyd lived a life rich with love, family, and adventure.
He is survived by his devoted daughters: Kimberly Ruble, Rosalind Ditzler-Moore, and Penney (Robert) Icenogle, all of Murphysboro; Melody Dow of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and Cathy Salas of Eagle Pass, Texas. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Judy (William) Webb of Carterville. Floyd was a proud grandfather to Timothy Pate, Trevor Pate, Nina (Frank) Cano, Erick (Amber) Moore, Sarah (Jeremy) Holland, Kyle Moore, Dalton Lipscomb, Matthew Burlbaugh, Marlena Burlbaugh, and Kevin Dow, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish his memory.
An avid outdoorsman, Floyd found his greatest joy in nature — fishing, boating, hunting, and reading. His loyal hunting dogs, Big Spot and Little Spot, were his constant companions. He also had a passion for sports, cycling, and working with his hands. As the owner and operator of a small engine repair business in Murphysboro, Floyd took pride in tinkering and fixing machines, always ready to help a neighbor or friend in need.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda (Lipe) Ditzler; his brother, Donald Ditzler; his sister, Betty Lewis; and his grandchildren, Theodore Ruble and Scott Moore.
Floyd’s warmth, wisdom, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Final Arrangements Were Entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
