Frank Robert Janik, 81, of Hurst, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on August 4, 2026.
Frank was born on July 1, 1945, in Houston, Texas. He worked as a mechanic and was a true automobile enthusiast. He enjoyed racing and never missed watching NASCAR on the weekends. He also loved building model cars and restoring automobiles. One of his proudest projects was restoring a Corvette, which he proudly displayed at car shows. Frank could often be found tinkering in his garage, working on whatever project caught his interest that day.
Frank was a true old-school gentleman who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ann Janik; daughter, Rena (Michael) Steinmetz; sons, Antoni (Dawn) Janik and Brian (Kim) Janik; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Casimere Janik; sister, Victoria Nunez; and brother, Shelton Bivens.
In accordance with Frank’s wishes, he will be cremated, and no formal services will be held. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Ministry of Comfort was lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
