Gary was a loving son, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and dear friend to many. With his charismatic ways, smooth talking, and timeless style, he had a gift for leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Born in Charleston, Missouri, Gary was the son of the late Rosie Miller. He was one of many siblings, including Celestine Holman, Irene (Leonard) Hudson, Orlean Braswell, Dotha (James) Chester, James Starks, Charles (Debra) Starks, and Karriem Sharrati. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Claude Starks and Johnny Starks.

Gary was married to the late Mayola Starks, and together they built a family with love. He is survived by his children: Cornelius Freemen, Ayeshia Wyatt, and Joshalynn Starks. His memory also lives on through his grandchildren—Treaveon Tyrez Freeman, Eboni Sanders, Carnaezia Jones, and Constance Mason—as well as his great-grandchildren: Kamari Adonis Zaire Mathis, Kamden Asai Nyir Mathis, Kaiden Pierson, Lamarrion William, Khapri Ah’marie Freeman, Lamiyah Williams, Kaliyah Williams, and Lanasisha Williams.

In his free time, Gary loved the challenge and strategy of playing chess. He recently, gave his life to Christ and was baptized on August 4, 2024, becoming a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Gary will be remembered for his love of family and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
