It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Maurice Rush, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Born on March 17, 1969, to Mark Anthony Rush and Margaret Jean (Johnson) Rush, James was known affectionately by most as Maurice.
Maurice was a cherished member of a large and loving family. He is survived by his siblings: Alvin, Laura, Cynthia (Edward), Mark Jr. (Sharango), Brittini (Kelvin), Tieresia (Mahmoud), Reginald, Heidi (William), and Ivory. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom adored him. Two dear aunts, Helen Atkins and Shirley Fox, will forever hold him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mark and Vera Rush, and maternal grandparents, Esco and Cordelia Gomillia.
Maurice accepted Christ at a young age at Pilgrim MB Church under the guidance of Reverend S.D. Durrell. His faith was the foundation of his life, reflected in his compassion, humility, and service to others.
Known for his generous spirit and unmatched work ethic, Maurice never hesitated to help someone in need—especially when it came to housing projects. Whether offering a helping hand or a listening ear, he made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Maurice lived life with joy, always wearing an infectious smile and bringing warmth wherever he went. His kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for family and friends will be remembered always.
Though he is no longer with us, James Maurice Rush will forever remain in our hearts.
