Jerome Dean Wooley, affectionately known as “Rome” or “Shock” 70, of Carbondale, Illinois passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on December 8, 1953, to the union of the late Marlee Wooley Sr., and Francis (Lewis) Wooley in Carbondale, Illinois.
Jerome received his education in the Carbondale School System, later graduating from Carbondale Community High School.
He worked many jobs throughout his life, working for Horstman Cleaners for several years until the Lord called him home. This was the job he loved most.
Jerome enjoyed fishing, cooking and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Anytime you saw Jerome he was riding his bicycle with his “water bottle” of his favorite juice. He was a jack-of-all-trades, if it was broken, he could fix it or give it his best shot. He loved to help others that were in need.
Jerome leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Nicole Blythe-Fallatah and Arrysha Monique Harris; one son, Jerome Jr. “Sugar Boy”; grandchildren, Tshachile, Traeshonne, Tshadiyah , Kiara, Amari and Korey Blythe, Alyssa Ray Ward and Kelsie Johnson; sisters, Barbara Dewalt, Norma Wooley, Penny Lewis, Patricia Wooley and Tammy Wooley; brothers, Wendell (Cheryl) Wooley, Clinton (Tina) Wooley, Kenneth (Susan) Wooley; two sisters-in-laws, Deborah Wooley and Gwendolyn Wooley; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Quinn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; two special friends, Trotter Welch and Billy Williams.
He was preceded in death by his son, Omar Blythe; his parents, Marlee Sr. and Francis Wooley; brothers, Marlee Jr., Danny and Larry Wooley; sisters, Mary Alice Wooley, JoAnn Cole and Deborah Quinn; one niece, Cynthia Cole-Cobb.
Professional Services were Entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
