Kathryn Sue Hines

Kathryn Sue Hines, 82, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at Manor Court of Carbondale, Illinois. She was born on February 25, 1944, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to the late Roy and Ella (Lane) Stanton.

Kathryn cherished the time she spent with her sister, talking on the phone every day, playing games on her phone, and enjoying lunch together at Wok N Roll in Marion, Gresa’s Café in DeSoto, and Cindy B’s in Murphysboro. These simple moments of companionship and laughter brought her great joy.

She is survived by her son, Jason (Laurie) Edwards; grandchildren, Emily (Willie) Thompson, Zach (Shelly) Edwards, Megan (Caleb) Miller, Jordan (Whitney) Edwards, and Cody Layne; and other loving family members and friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Hines; her son, Frankie Allan Edwards; five brothers; and two sisters.

Ministry of Comfort was lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
