Lyric Caprice Irby, born on November 17, 2005, to Tiffany (Davis) Irby and Kenzo Irby in Peoria, Illinois, was called home to Glory on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
A devout believer, Lyric accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and found strength and guidance in God’s Holy Word.
Lyric excelled in academics, graduating Cum Laude from Peoria High School in 2024, placing in the top 8% of her class. She was a proud member of the National Honor Society and the National Honor Association, earning numerous scholarships throughout her journey. As a Delta Gem, Lyric’s passion for education shone brightly, and she was accepted into more than 40 colleges and universities. She ultimately chose to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale to pursue a degree in Accounting.
A fashionista at heart, Lyric loved all things pink and found joy in expressing her unique style. Her interests included listening to Beyoncé and Tyler the Creator, shopping, fishing with her Nanna, going to the gun range, attending ballets, traveling, and enjoying the Mosley family cookouts. However, her happiest moments were spent with her little brother, Cortez, who was her favorite companion.
Lyric was preceded in death by her great-grandparents: Clarence and Josephine Hobbs, Pearlie Mae Morris, Charley Mosley Sr., Lucille Thornton, Joe Irby, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: parents Tiffany and Kenzo Irby; siblings Cortez, Kenzo, MaKenzee, Que, LaNiya, and A’Mia; grandmothers Patricia Davis and Vera Mosley; grandfathers Wyatt Thornton and Kent (Alisha) Irby Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Among those closest to her heart were her special friends: Brandon Allen Jr., Valentino Gist Jr., Edarius Gilmore, Nekeer Johnson, Bobby Williams, Karmya Davis, and the RARE group.
Lyric lived boldly, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. She truly embodied the spirit of "A Legend" and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched.
Final arrangements lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
