Mary Anna Worthen, 68, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away on September 20, 2025, in Carbondale, Illinois. She was born on October 6, 1956, in Murphysboro to Carl and June (Howel) Worthen.
Mary grew up in Murphysboro and attended John A. Logan College. She later worked as a riverboat card dealer, a role she thoroughly enjoyed. Mary had a love for gaming, a sharp wit, and a vibrant sense of humor. She was often the life of the party and approached each day with joy and enthusiasm. She especially loved spending time with her family, her close friends Becky and Jeff Streater, and her beloved dog, “Baby.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lola Harty and Pauline Puttmann; and her brother, Chuck Higgs.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Ruth Fox of Knoxville, TN, and Katy McDonough of Elmhurst, IL; nieces, Amy Morgan-Falaster, Jana Miller, Ashley Abramson, Karla Reeder, and Kathy Tallent; nephews, Andy Morgan, Jay Fox, and Matthew McDonough; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Ministry of Comfort has been entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
