Patricia A. Diggle, 70, of Carbondale, Illinois passed away on January 9, 2025 at her home.
She was born and raised in Bloomington, Illinois to the late Robert and Beverly Haney on October 04, 1954.
She later made her home in Carbondale, where she built a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others. She was married to the love of her life, Douglas Diggle, who passed away in November 1998. Now, Patti has reunited with Doug.
Patti dedicated much of her career to education and healthcare. She held various teaching positions at Southern Illinois University (SIU) and also worked in the Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) nursing department. Even after briefly retiring, she returned to SIU, finally retiring in April 2021. Throughout her career, she touched the lives of many students, colleagues, and patients with her wisdom and compassion. Beyond her professional life, Patti had a passion for knitting and took great pride in her work. She found joy in crafting, creating, and sharing her handmade pieces with those she cared about.
Patti also had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved cat, Mr. Belkin, who passed away at her side.
Patti is survived by her two brothers, Scott (Judy) Haney and Mark Haney as well as her close friend Kevin Minton and the Albers family. She also leaves behind many others whose lives she touched throughout her career and time in Carbondale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and cherished cat, Mr. Belkin. Patti will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she influenced and the love she shared.
