Raymond E. Clover, Jr., 67, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025. Born on January 20, 1958, in Murphysboro to Myreldean (Davitz) and Raymond E. Clover, Sr., Raymond was a proud graduate of Murphysboro High School, Class of 1976.
A man of many interests and a hands-on spirit, Raymond found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, growing vegetables, and spending time fishing. Most of all, he loved working on old cars and lawn mowers—an expression of both his skill and passion.
Raymond is survived by his children, Raymond E. Clover, III (Lacie), Jessica Clover, Andrea McLane, and Rodney Lee Kelly; his beloved fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Mary Ellen Winchester (Paul), Darlene Clover, Diane Inman, Crystal Knight, Bradley Clover (Elizabeth), Harold Scurlock, and Mike Scurlock. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and special friends including Randy Williams, Jason and Shelly Royer, and Fred Cripps.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Denise Dotson, Deborah Cook, and Francis Varnum; three nephews, Leon Varnum, John Ray Murray, and Matthew Varnum; and one great-nephew, Joshua Varnum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
