Rayshaun L. Simon

CARBONDALE

Rayshaun Lamont Simon affectionately known as “RayRay” departed this life on April 28, 2023 at the age of forty-one.

He was born on January 16,1982 to Tanya Mason & Bobby Simon in Carbondale, Illinois.

Rayshaun accept Christ at an early age. Growing up he often attended Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education in Carbondale Elementary School System, graduating from Carbondale High School Class of 2000.

He continued his education in Job Corps where he earned a degree in Banking and Accounting. He graduated top of his class & was offered a Mentor Position for his outstanding work. Ray enjoyed attending Attucks Community Service Programs every summer. He loved his comics books, eating good food, and the game of basketball.

RayShaun was a very loving and respectful father. He had a strong love for his family and friends often being called the “peacemaker” of the family. He kept a smile on his face that lit up any room he walked into.

Rayshaun leaves to cherish his precious memories: four daughters, Saniya Dysart, Nyema Simon, Londyn'Skye Mosley, and Sharae Simon, all of Carbondale, Illinois; one son, Rayshaun Simon Jr., of Carbondale, Illinois; eight additional children that he cared for and acknowledged; his mother, Tanya Moore of Winona, Mississippi; his father, Bobby (Sharon) Simon of Carbondale, Illinois; one grandmother Jacie Simon of Houston, Texas; five sisters, Ajisha Simon of Nashville, Tennessee, Leai Simon of St. Louis, Missouri; Nikcole Lewis of Winona, Mississippi; Jacie Simon of Houston, Texas; Racheal Simon of Popular Bluff, Missouri; a special aunt, Twanda Mason of Carbondale, Illinois; uncles, Jason Meeks of East Moline, Illinois, Lowell Mason of Denver, Colorado, Elbert Simon II of Carterville, Illinois, Ricky Simon of Carbondale, Illinois one brother/cousin Artemus Burnett of Carbondale Illinois; two special friends, Trevyon Cole and Marcus Lilly; and a host of aunties ,uncle, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Hal and Lillie McCroy; grandmother, Odessa Meeks; grandfathers, Raymond Mason & Elbert Simon Sr.; great aunts, Phyllis McCroy and Bessie Bowers; great uncle Hal (Jessie) McCroy.
