Murphysboro

Robert “Bob” Cordell Garrett, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2026, at his residence in Murphysboro, Illinois. He was born on March 27, 1970, in Dayton, Ohio, to his parents, Linda and Jeffrey Garrett Sr.

Bob graduated from Cookeville High School in 1988. In his early years, he worked in maintenance at a nursing home before going on to spend more than 20 years installing flooring. He was a hardworking man who took pride in what he did.

Bob loved spending time on his boat—it was truly his happy place. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, drawing, and singing. Above all, he loved spending time with those he cared about. Bob was a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and a friend to many. He had a genuine soul and a heart of gold, always willing to give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His sense of humor and ability to make others laugh made him a joy to be around, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Rick; his parents, Linda Garrett and Jeffrey Garrett Sr.; his children, Kayla, Felicia and Nathaniel Garrett; his brother, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Garrett Jr.; niece, Tiffany (Matt) Ventimiglia; grandchildren, Ryan Hay, Kayden Hay, Piper DuVall, Bodhi Garrett, and Macie Burt; and great-niece, Roxy Ventimiglia and several uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Clurie Garrett and Mary and Charlie Vest; his aunt, Susan Blaylock; and his stepmother, Sharon Johns.

A celebration of life and burial will be held at a later date for family and close friends. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Ministry of Comfort was Entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
