Roderick E. Hudson

July 12, 1964 — May 5, 2021

CARBONDALE

Roderick was born to Evelyn and Thomas Hudson on July, 12 1954 in Cairo, Illinois. He was the youngest of nine siblings; Billy of St Mary, MO, Thomas (Janet) Hudson Jr. of Suffolk, VA, Darrell Hudson and Kevin Hudson of Carbondale, IL, Michael Hudson of Hampton , VA, Karen (Barry) of Murphysboro, IL, Barbara and Patronia of Carbondale, IL.

He graduated from Meridian High School in 1982 and lived in Illinois until his early 20's before relocating to Atlanta, GA. While in Atlanta, he worked several jobs before he came into trucking and freight, but once he discovered truck driving a passion was ignited. He would spend several years driving for various trucking companies before starting his own trucking company, Hustle Transport, LLC, in 2015. Roderick acquired a few trucks, a DOT number, and authority to haul freight. Roderick worked extremely hard to get his business up and running. He dedicated countless hours, days, nights, holidays and weekends to seeing his dreams come to fruition. He was relentless to have something to leave behind to his children. His dream was for everyone to see Hustle Transport trucks and trailers driving up and down expressways and roadways all over the U.S.A. A lot of his dreams were staring to be realized, but were unfortunately cut short when he was called home on May 5th, 2021. He was warm and endearing man, loved by all he came into contact with.

Roderick is survived by his four children, Courtland (Erica) Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, Zollie Harris of Atlanta, GA, Lawanda Hudson and Rodnesha Hudson of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Laila, Kailani, Kaeman all of Colorado Springs, CO, Zavion, Zareah, Zamora, Zymier Harris, all of Atlanta, GA.

Roderick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bura and Cherrie Robinson, paternal grandmother Irene Hurt, his father Thomas Hudson, and sister, Lawanda Hudson.
