Ronald E. Shanafelt Sr.

Ronald Eugene Shanafelt Sr., age 69 of Centralia, Illinois passed away September 10, 2023 at his home. He was born on April 30, 1954 to the late Clifford and Imogene (Dodson) Shanafelt. He married Robin Lee Knott on June 5, 1976 and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2023.

Ronald enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved playing music, watching basketball games and races.

Ronald is survived by his son, Ronald Eugene Shanafelt, II, and significant other Ann Auton; six granddaughters, Breanna, Laney, Morgan, Shiann, Destiny and Jazamine; three great
granddaughters; brother, Gary Shanafelt; half brother, Darrell Gurley; half sisters, Diana Atkinson, Anita Burney and Lisa Schwengel; step siblings, Danny Swartz and Rebecca Durison;
and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Imogene Dodson; father and step mother Clifford and
Ruth Shanafelt; brother, Lee Shanafelt and step brothers, Larry Swartz and Ronald Swartz.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Wamac
Missionary Baptist Church in Centralia, Illinois, with Pastor Paul Holsapple officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services.
