It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shari Fay LeAnn Rexford, a beloved mother, partner, friend, and light to all who knew her. She was 41 years old. She died at home on Monday, May 25, 2026, surrounded by love.
She was born July 2, 1984, in Alton to Jerry Rexford and Judy Manis. She made her home in Pinckneyville, IL where she built a life rich with love and connection to her community.
Shari was always kind to those around her. She could make people feel at ease simply by being in her presence. Her warmth drew people in, and her kindness kept them close. She was someone people wanted to be around. Those who spent time with her knew they were in the company of someone special.
As a shift manager at McDonald’s, Shari showed up to work with dedication and a caring spirit, the kind of person her team and her customers were glad to see. In her free time, she loved to unwind with video games and loved the movie ”The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Above all else, Shari was a mother. Her two daughters, Zoey McMillen and Romy Rexford, were the center of her world and she loved them fiercely. Everything she did, she did with them in her heart. They will carry her love with them always.
She was taken far too soon, but the warmth she gave so freely will never be forgotten.
Shari is survived by her daughters Zoey and Romy; her boyfriend, Andrew Gill (Gilley); her brothers, Rob Axley of Chautauqua, Chris Axley of Elsah and Philip Axley of Springfield, MO; aunts and uncles: Jim and Mary Manis of Cambria, Ray Manis and Nancy Benton of Tennessee, Ron Manis of Murphysboro, Bill and Carol Manis of Murphysboro, John Manis of Herrin, Lisa Manis Ramage of Marion; Randy and Patty Manis of Elkville and Jane and Jason Cobin of Elkville; and a wide and loving extended family including many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins whose lives she touched deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents; Grandma Fay, Uncle Bob and Cousin Jason Manis.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Final Arrangements were entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
