Stephen G. Will, age 70, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on September 6, 1953, to Richard W. and Rosemary (Golliher) Will in Murphysboro, Illinois.
Steve worked as a carpenter for most of his life. He was a fireman for Murphysboro Fire Department. He founded and built Murphysboro Pomona Somerset Fire Department where he was the Fire Chief for 5 years. He spent the last few years restoring antique tools with Tony Calabrese, “Restoring the Past”. Steve was also an avid blood donor recently receiving his 5-gallon pin. He loved to BBQ, call Bingo, work in his garden, and fish. What he loved mostly was always being right (even when he wasn’t), driving his children crazy, and entertaining the ladies.
Steve was member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge #572, the American Legion Post 127, and a member of the Carpenters Union Local 638.
He is survived by his father, Richard W. Will; his four children, Kelly Mifflin, Amanda (Tim) Coleman, Julie (David) Camden and S. Joshua (Erin) Will; grandchildren, Jake and Dylan King, Logan Alley, Breanna Graff, Olivia Wheatley, Tristan Camden, Kelsey and Declan Will; four great grandchildren; siblings, Rick (Connie) Will, Rita (Buddy) Kinniburgh, Marty Will, and sister-in-law, Cindy Will; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Will and his brother, Shaun T. Will
In honor of Stephen G. Will, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Professional Services were Entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
