Troy Lydell Higgins

Troy Lydell Higgins, 52, of Carbondale, Illinois, departed this world on August 22, 2026.

Troy was born in Carbondale, Illinois, to Eunice Ann Higgins. He attended Carbondale public schools and spent his life in the community he called home. Having grown up on Elm Street, Troy became known and loved by many throughout the area.

There was never a dull moment when Troy was around. He had a way of bringing life and laughter to every gathering and was deeply loved by his family and friends. Troy enjoyed listening to music, spending time with those he cared about, and sharing his generous spirit with others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, welcome someone new, and make a friend wherever he went.

Troy was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Brown, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. Lester Higgins Sr. and Queen Ester Higgins.

Troy leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Eunice Higgins; his sisters, Linda Faye Higgins and Erica Greer; his brothers, Dennis (Tomica) Higgins, Alphonzo Higgins, Patrick Brown, Dashun Brooks, Matthew Covington, and Mark Covington; his aunts, Regina Cole, Debra Dentman, and Cherry Dentman; his special friend, Ciara Cole; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Troy’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though he has departed this world, the love, laughter, kindness, and memories he shared will remain forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

The Ministry of Comfort was lovingly entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
