Mr. Tyrone Mitchell, 74, of Carbondale, Illinois, peacefully departed this life on July 28, 2026, at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his daughter.

Tyrone was born on December 1, 1951, in Carbondale, Illinois, to the union of Charles and Bertha Mitchell. He grew to be a man known for his strength, kindness, and dedication to those he loved. Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of positions, including employment with Toyota of Marion, where he was respected for his hard work and commitment. The Cadillac Lounge where he engaged in meeting, talking and always having fun. Tyrone loved to cruise around town listening to his old school music never exceeding 10 miles per hour!!

Above all, Tyrone cherished his family. He leaves to honor and cherish his memory his wife, Lolita Mitchell of Marion, Illinois; his daughter, Latausha Mitchell-Battles of Carbondale, Illinois; and his stepdaughter, Kristi Murphy-Simon of Marion, Illinois; brothers, Leonard Mitchella, Anthony Mitchell of Carbondale, Illinois and Aaron Mitchell of Colorado.

He was the proud grandfather of DeAntre’ Mitchell of Jonesboro, Illinois; Ivory Clark Jr. and Darrion Clark of Carbondale, Illinois; Tristan Jackson, William Murphy II, and Robert Quertermous of Marion, Illinois; and Kayden Simon, Leveah Simon, and Josiah Simon of Ava, Illinois. His grandchildren were a great source of pride and joy.

Tyrone also leaves behind several special friends who became like family over the years: Wendell Johnson, Bobby McDaniel, and Charlie Gunn. Their friendship and unwavering support meant a great deal to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertha Mitchell; his brothers, Charles Mitchell Jr., Earl Mitchell, Dana Mitchell, and Curtis Mitchell; his nephew, Terrance Mitchell; his stepson, Craig “LeVelle” Simon II; and his special friends, Robert Jones and Early Jones.
